What we stock, and how to pick

There are four formats here and they suit genuinely different people. Below is what each one asks of you, what it contains, and when we would reach for it.

Types of natural relaxants we stock

Loose herbs are the traditional end: chamomile, mulungu bark, valerian root, lemon balm, hops flowers and thyme, sold by weight from 20g to 80g. Then five caffeine-free blends from Losse-T, including Hemp Relax, which is also gluten-free, lactose-free and unsweetened. Capsules cover the measured route, from single-ingredient ashwagandha to the six-herb Natural Relax. Finally two sprays and a gummy, for people who will not brew anything.

Herbal teas versus supplements

Neither is better. They fail in different ways.

How the common ingredients work

A few names keep coming up. L-theanine, the amino acid from green tea, appears in both GABA tablets (100mg) and Natural Relax (150mg). GABA itself is in the tablets at 700mg per two, and again in the Dream Mist spray at 84mg. Ashwagandha is the adaptogen of the group, a 300mg 4:1 root extract per capsule. Reishi turns up in the StressLess spray at 200mg alongside 50mg of ashwagandha. Knowing those four names makes most of the labels here readable.

Daytime calm or winding down

Split the shelf in two and the choice gets easy. For daytime we would take ashwagandha or the StressLess spray, neither of which is sedating. For the evening it is the Night Herbs and Sweet Dreams blends, or one of the two melatonin products, and this is where people trip up: Dream Mist gives 0.81mg of melatonin across three sprays, the cherry gummies give 0.29mg each. Nearly a threefold difference between two products that look like they do the same thing.

Using them sensibly

Stick to the amount printed on the pack, and treat the evening products as evening products, not something to take before driving. If you are on medication or pregnant, run any herb past your GP first, particularly valerian and ashwagandha. Everything ships in plain packaging with nothing on the outside to say what is inside.

Common questions about relaxation products

Are the relaxation teas caffeine-free?

Yes, the Losse-T evening blends are all caffeine-free, and so are the loose herbs, since none of them is an actual tea leaf. Each product page lists the caffeine field if you want to double-check a specific one.

What is the difference between Dream Mist and the Dream Gummies?

Format and amount. Dream Mist is a spray delivering 0.81mg of melatonin plus GABA and lemon balm extract in three sprays. The cherry gummies hold 0.29mg each, along with valerian and passionflower, and they contain sugar because they are sweets.

Is ashwagandha for sleep or for daytime?

Most people take it during the day. It is an adaptogen rather than a sedative, and our version is a 300mg 4:1 root extract in a plant-based capsule, one a day, 60 to a pot.

Do I need any equipment for the loose herbs?

A strainer or infuser basket, and that is it. Everything loose in this category is sold as leaf, flower, bark or root rather than in bags, so a teapot with a built-in filter makes life easier.
