OG Kush is not one strain so much as a family of legendary cuts, and this page holds the biggest names in one place. Whichever you pick, the base genetics stay the same: Chemdawg crossed with Lemon Thai and Pakistani Kush, an indica-dominant hybrid that rewired what growers expected from cannabis in the 1990s.

OG Kush genetics and lineage: one strain, a family of cuts

When Californian growers passed OG Kush clones around, each city kept its own version, and the best ones earned their own names. The base genetics never changed, Chemdawg x Lemon Thai x Pakistani Kush, but several of those famous cuts sit in the grid above as seeds.

SFV OG

The San Fernando Valley cut, here via Advanced Seeds' OG Kush SFV. Unusually for an OG, it leans sativa and stays compact indoors at around a metre, then stretches to two and a half times that outside.

Tahoe and Larry

Both come from Cali Connection, the seedbank built around OG genetics. Tahoe OG Kush is the lankier, more sativa-leaning of the pair and takes 9-10 weeks to flower; Larry OG Kush finishes faster at 8-9 weeks. Fair warning on Tahoe: its indoor yield tops out around 300 g/m², modest next to the 500-600 g/m² most other versions here manage.

Lithium, AK-OG and Super OG

The crosses. Nirvana's Lithium OG pairs OG Kush with an autoflower frame, Amsterdam Genetics folds in AK-47 heritage, and Kannabia's Super OG turns the size up, up to 800 g per plant outdoors.

THC, CBD and effects

The effect is a slow, heavy mind-and-body stone, euphoric up front and properly relaxing after, which tracks with the 70-85% indica balance most cuts carry. THC on this shelf runs 19-26% depending on the version, and the Zamnesia Seeds cut is the odd one out with 3% CBD next to its 19% THC. If you want to feel where that heaviness comes from, grow a pure Hindu Kush next to it and compare; the OG adds gas and lift the landrace never had.

Flavour and aroma

The flavour is the signature: fuel first, then lemon and pine, with an earthy edge that sits on the tongue long after the exhale. Behind it are myrcene, limonene and caryophyllene, the same terpene trio that carries through every cut on this page.

Growing OG Kush in a British climate

Flowering time and yield

Indoors, OG Kush behaves: 7-10 weeks of flowering depending on the cut, most at 8-9, with yields up to 600 g/m² from the likes of Humboldt and Zamnesia Seeds.

Indoor vs outdoor

Outdoors is the harder sell. Photoperiod versions finish in October, and a British October is a mould lottery, so grow under lights or pick one of the five autoflowers, which wrap up 9-11 weeks after germination whatever the calendar says.

Feminized and autoflower, explained

Every version here is feminized, so no male plants to cull. The choice is photoperiod (bigger plants, bigger yields, needs a light schedule or a proper summer) versus autoflower (smaller, faster, forgiving of grey weather).
