What is the history of the Sensi Seeds seed bank?
Ben Dronkers spent the late seventies and early eighties collecting landrace seeds across Asia and the Americas, crossed them with the first American Skunk and Haze hybrids, and turned the results into the Sensi Seed Club in 1985. A shop in Amsterdam followed in 1986, then the takeover of The Seed Bank in 1991, which folded some of the most important genetics of that era into one library. That library is why Sensi Seeds is still the seed bank other breeders raid for parent stock, and why its genetics sit at the base of the medicinal cannabis grown for the Dutch government.
What are the best cannabis seeds from Sensi Seeds?
Some of the best strains in our Sensi range:
- Northern Lights: 90% indica, flowers in 7-8 weeks and shrugs off beginner mistakes. Still the default recommendation.
- Skunk #1: the strain that defined what "skunky" smells like, done in 7-8 weeks.
- Hindu Kush: 100% indica landrace with a proper hash smell to match.
- Big Bud: bred for weight, up to 600 g/m² indoors if you support the colas.
- Chocolate Rainbow XXL: the modern one, sweet chocolate aroma and very high THC.
One thing to watch: Sensi lists THC for most classics as simply "medium" or "high" rather than a lab number. You buy these on forty years of reputation, not spec sheets. If you want percentages on the packet, Royal Queen Seeds is the better fit, and we carry both.
