What Comes in the Box, and What You'll Still Need to Buy

The most common mistake we see isn't overwatering, it's mismatched gear. Someone grabs a 60x60 tent, bolts on a light built for a 120x120, then wonders why the canopy is bleached and the tops are crisping. Kits exist to stop that happening. The tent, LED, fan and carbon filter in these ten are already sized to each other, so the only thing you have to get right is your growing.

Footprint first, wattage second

Floor space decides everything else. A 60x60 handles 1-2 plants, an 80x80 gives you room for 2-4 and enough elbow room to try some pruning, and the 100x100 and 120x120 both stand 200cm tall, which is what you want for SCROG or plants that stretch. Full-spectrum LED covers both the veg and flower stages without swapping lamps, and PPFD (the light that actually lands on your leaves) falls away fast at the edges, so an oversized panel in a small tent buys you heat stress, not yield. Everything below comes from the growshop range.

Three ranges, and what actually separates them

Zamnesia kits with Phytonaut LEDs

Four sizes, all built around the same logic: matched fan and filter, matched ducting, no leftover parts rattling in the bottom of the box. Tent canvas is graded by denier, and heavy 1680D lightproof canvas with a reflective mylar lining is what keeps light in and throws the rest back at your plants instead of soaking it up. The 80x80 kit is the one most people land on, while the 120x120 is for anyone running several trained plants at once.

Dark Box and Pure Factory extras

Dark Box covers 60x60x180 with a Cosmos 120W, 80x80x200 with a 150W, and 100x100x220 with a 300W, and every one includes a thermo-hygrometer. The Dark Box 80x80 fits up to two plants. Pure Factory runs 80x80x160 with a PureLED Q150, 100x100x200 with a Q240 and 120x120x200 with a Q320, and adds an analog timer alongside the thermo-hygrometer. Watch out for the Pure Factory 80 though: 160cm total height is tight, so a stretchy plant will be nose to nose with the LED by week three.

Setup night, and the bits that aren't in the box

Poles push together by hand, no tools, and you'll be done in under half an hour. Expect that fresh-canvas smell for the first day and a mylar interior bright enough to make you squint when the light goes on. Clamp the carbon filter to the fan, duct it out, hang the LED. You'll want a mains timer for 18/6 in veg and 12/12 in flower, which Pure Factory includes and the others don't. Fabric pots, saucers, soil and seeds aren't part of any kit either. Sit the thermo-hygrometer at canopy height and use it to keep VPD sensible, roughly 24C and 60% humidity while plants are growing, then a bit drier once they flower. Already own a tent? Buy a standalone LED grow light and carbon filter instead, it works out cheaper than replacing the lot.

The one we'd put in a spare room

The Grow Tent Kit 80x80 (Zamnesia) with the 240W Phytonaut. It's the size that gives you real canopy space without dominating the room, and the 100mm fan is quiet enough to sleep next to. If it has to live in a wardrobe, take the 60x60 and keep it to one plant.

Frequently asked questions

What's actually included in a grow tent kit?

The tent, a full-spectrum LED, an inline extractor fan, a carbon filter and flexible ducting, all matched to the tent size. Dark Box kits add a thermo-hygrometer, and Pure Factory kits add an analog timer as well. Pots, soil and seeds are separate.

Which grow tent kit size do I need?

Count your plants and measure your floor. A 60x60 suits 1-2 plants, an 80x80 takes 2-4, a 100x100 handles 2-5 and a 120x120 up to 5. The 100x100 and 120x120 also stand 200cm tall, so you get room for training and a sensible gap between canopy and LED.

Is there a kit that works for just one plant?

Yes. The 60x60 Zamnesia kit with the Phytonaut 120W is built for 1-2 plants, and the Dark Box 60x60x180 fits a single plant in an 18 litre pot comfortably. Both are the least fiddly way to learn without filling a whole room.

How much electricity does a kit use?

Work it from the LED wattage. A 120W panel on 18 hours a day pulls around 2.2kWh, and a 480W panel on 12 hours in flower is around 5.8kWh. The fan adds a small amount on top, and LEDs run cool enough that you won't need extra cooling gear.

Are these kits alright for a first grow?

They're the easiest starting point, because nothing is over or underpowered for the tent it came with. The frames assemble by hand in about half an hour. Grab a mains timer if your kit doesn't include one, plus fabric pots and soil, and you're set.
