Paradise Seeds: Award-Winning Amsterdam Cannabis Genetics

The most common thing we hear about Paradise Seeds is that it's an old-school seed bank coasting on 1990s classics. Half right at best. Yes, Sensi Star and Nebula built the reputation, but the newer work is where the action is now: Zesty Bliss crosses L.A. Amnesia with a Wedding Cake pheno and pulls 900-1100g per plant outdoors, and Velvet Mist pushes 22-26% THC from Purple Kush x Wedding Cake. If you want a breeder that stopped developing in 2005, this isn't it.

1994, Amsterdam, and One Grower Who Was Fed Up

Luc Krol founded Paradise Seeds in Amsterdam in 1994 because the imported hash and weed reaching Dutch coffeeshops was, frankly, rubbish. He started selecting and stabilising his own lines instead. That work fed straight into the era when Dutch genetics took over the world, and the company still operates out of Amsterdam. If you searched "paradise seeds amsterdam" and landed here, that's the connection: same city, same breeder, same catalogue you're looking at in the grid above.

The Cup Cabinet: Sensi Star, Nebula, Delahaze

Paradise Seeds is defined by competition results more than marketing. Sensi Star and Nebula are the two names that made the shelf, and Delahaze carried the sativa side for years. On our own shelf, Jacky White took 3rd prize in the Sativa category at the IC 420 Cup in 2009, which tells you plenty about how the haze-citrus side of this catalogue performs when judges are involved. Awards aren't a guarantee your grow goes well, but they do mean the genetics have been picked apart by people who grow for a living.

Five Paradise Seeds Strains We'd Actually Run

• Wappa: a stout indica topping out around 120cm, 20-24% THC, 500g/m² indoors, 55-65 days flowering. Big dense nugs that fill a room with sweet fruit.
• Jacky White: 600g/m² under a 600W HPS, done in 60 days, 18% THC. Grapefruit smell right through flowering.
• White Berry: fast at around 50 days indoors, 400-500g/m², 15-18% THC, sweet berry on the nose. A good SOG candidate.
• Auto Kong 4: GG crossed with Pandora, 65-70 days from seed, 450g/m², up to 20% THC, buds glazed in resin.
• Lemonade Auto: sweet orange and sharp lemon, 20-24% THC, 500g/m² after 75 days from germination.

Photoperiod, Auto or CBD: Which Shelf You Want

The feminized photoperiod lines (Acid, Allkush, Apricot Candy, Atomical Haze, Delahaze) give you the biggest yields and full control over veg time. The autos, including Vertigo, Auto Acid, Auto Jack and Banana Purple Auto, run on a clock instead of a light switch, which suits small tents and short summers. Then there's the CBD range, CBDelight, CBDream, CBDrelax, CBDrelief and Durga Mata II CBD, for people who want less of a hit. Compared to a mixed-breeder pick from our wider cannabis seeds shelf, sticking with one breeder keeps flowering times and plant behaviour predictable across a run.

Watch the Stretch and the Smell

Two honest warnings. First, the sativa-leaning lines climb. Zesty Bliss clears 120cm indoors and will chase your lamp, so top it or throw a SCROG net over it early. Second, the smell. Lemonade Auto starts perfuming the whole space partway through flowering, so a carbon filter isn't optional if you share walls with anyone. Velvet Mist is the opposite problem, compact under 100cm but dense enough that you'll want to lollipop the lower growth and keep air moving through the canopy. If you'd rather start easy, Wappa and White Berry are the two we hand to first-timers.
