Looking for kanna in the UK? Sceletium tortuosum is a South African succulent, traditionally fermented and chewed, and it reaches you here as plain plant material, finely milled powder or a concentrated extract. Which one suits you depends less on strength than on how you plan to take it, so start with the route and work back from there.

Kanna in the UK: Pick by How You Use It

Buying kanna in the UK usually goes wrong in one of two ways: people buy an extract suited to a route they never use, or they buy plain plant material and expect extract-level effects. Sort the route first, then the strength.

Kanna Formats, Sorted by What You Plan to Do

  • Chewing or brewing. Go for whole plant material. A 1 gram pack of kanna handles a snuff at about 20mg or a chew from 100mg up to a full gram. The taste is bitter and earthy, closer to strong loose-leaf tea than to a supplement.
  • Dry herb vaping. Kanna Extract UB40 is the only one ground coarse enough to stay put on a vaporiser screen, and 188 degrees is where it performs. Start at 25mg.
  • Swallowing a measured dose. UC2 is built for oral use, 100mg light and 200mg stronger, best on an empty stomach.
  • Sublingual use. Nano Kanna is milled fine enough to dissolve under the tongue rather than sit there gritty, so it comes on faster.
  • Experienced only. ET2 is the most concentrated extract we carry, taken as a snuff from 15 to 20mg.

Where Kanna Comes From and What Is Actually In It

Sceletium tortuosum is a succulent from the Karoo region of South Africa, and the Khoi and San peoples have fermented and chewed it for generations as kougoed. Fermentation shifts the alkaloid balance rather than concentrating it. The dominant alkaloid is mesembrine, with mesembrenone and mesembrenol behind it, and that alkaloid profile is what separates one product from another. Only Nano Kanna Extreme publishes its own: a Certificate of Analysis for a minimum 5% total alkaloids with a 95% mesembrine share, made under cGMP from organic, non-GMO material.

Before Your First Scoop

Milligram doses are genuinely small, and a kitchen scale will not read them. That is the single most common mistake we hear about, someone eyeballing an extract dose that should have been weighed. Get a scale reading to 0.001g, or use Easy Dose oblate pouches to swallow a pre-measured amount without tasting it. Kanna also does not stack: keep it away from SSRIs, SNRIs and MAOIs, skip alcohol alongside it, and treat it as an adult botanical rather than a remedy. If you have read about it next to kratom, the two are not interchangeable, kanna is brighter and much shorter-lived. For a first order we would take the plain gram over Kanna Extreme every time, then move up once you know how you respond.

Kanna FAQ

Is kanna legal to buy in the UK?

Yes, we ship kanna to UK addresses as a botanical product for adults. Orders go out in plain, unbranded packaging with nothing on the outside naming the contents.

How much kanna should I take?

Plant material is dosed in hundreds of milligrams: around 20mg as a snuff, 100mg to a gram chewed. Extracts are much lower, 25mg for UB40 and 15 to 20mg for ET2. Weigh it, start low and wait an hour before topping up.

Which kanna is best for a vaporiser?

Kanna Extract UB40. It is deliberately ground coarser than the other extracts so it does not fall through the vaporiser screen, and it performs best around 188 degrees.

Do I need a scale for kanna extracts?

Yes, one that reads to 0.001g. Kitchen scales cannot resolve milligram doses, and eyeballing an extract is the most common mistake we hear about. Oblate pouches help you swallow a pre-weighed dose without tasting it.
