Every seed bank worth the name has its own Northern Lights, because the strain has been open for four decades. That is good news for choice and confusing for a first order, so here is the short version of who does what.
Feminized packs: the ones most people should buy
Feminized seeds skip the coin-flip on sex, so a ten-pack gives you ten plants that flower. Northern Lights in this format runs 7-8 weeks of bloom, stays around 120cm indoors and gives up to 500 g per square metre. The flavour is sweet and earthy with pine sitting underneath, and the resin is thick enough that a scissor hash session becomes unavoidable.
Who breeds which
Zamnesia Seeds is our house version at 19% THC and 366 reviews, and it is the one we hand to people who just want the classic. Royal Queen Seeds sits at 18% but pushes outdoor yield to 650g a plant. White Label keeps theirs deliberately old-school and lists strength as medium rather than a number, which is honest of them. Pyramid Seeds go the other way at 22%, the strongest figure on this page.
The two that are not really Northern Lights
Sensi Seeds Northern Lights 5 x Haze takes the famous #5 cut and crosses it into Haze, which flips it to 70% sativa, ten to eleven weeks of flowering and a bright, cerebral, almost psychedelic effect. If that is the direction you want, our Haze seeds go further down the same road. The other outlier is Northern Light Blue THC-Free, a 14% CBD plant with under 1% THC. Buy it on purpose or not at all.
Autoflowering packs and what they cost you
Autos carry ruderalis, so they flower on age rather than on a light switch. You get from seed to jar in six to twelve weeks with no timer change and no vegging decisions. The trade is control: an auto decides its own size, and a stressed week early on is a week you never get back. Speeds vary wildly here, from Expert Seeds at 6-7 weeks to Royal Queen Seeds at 11-12. The FastBuds Original Auto is the heaviest of the lot in effect terms, listed as relaxing, couch-lock and sleepy, and it tops out at 600 g/m2. For something sweeter, Northern Light Blue brings a blueberry note in from the Delicious Seeds side.
One thing worth planning for regardless of format: these buds finish dense and heavy. In a damp British autumn that is an invitation to mould, so keep a fan moving through the canopy for the last fortnight. The rest of our cannabis seeds sit one level up.
